Internacional have insisted that Napoli have not made an official offer for star player Leandro Damião.

The 23-year-old was close to joining Tottenham Hotspur last month but is now a transfer target of Serie A clubs Juventus and Napoli.

The latter are believed to see Damião as a possible replacement for Edinson Cavani, should the Uruguayan striker leave in the summer, but the Azzurri are yet to make an official offer.

Inter president, Giovanni Luigi, said: “No official offer from Napoli has been made to us.

“We’ve only had informal conversations with Italian clubs.”

The Brazil international is excited by the interest from Italy and his agent Vinicius Prates recently said the Serie A would be his client’s destination of choice.

He told Tuttonapoli.net: “The Italian championship is a goal for Damião. He is focused on succeeding in Brazil but anything can happen in June.

“It would be a pleasure for him to wear the shirt worn by Careca.”
