Avaí sign former Vasco and Monaco midfielder Eduardo Costa - Report
Brazilian Serie B side Avaí have signed former Vasco da Gama and Monaco midfielder Eduardo Costa on a free transfer, according to Lancenet!.
Costa, 30, was released from Vasco at the end of last season after his contract had run out. He had spent two years in Rio de Janeiro after returning to Brazil from Europe after an unsuccessful spell with French club Monaco.
Avaí will be Costa’s fourth club in Brazil after previous spells with Grêmio, where he started his career and spent a loan spell in 2007, São Paulo and Vasco and will represent something of a homecoming for the defensive midfielder as the player was born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, where the club are based.
Costa is expected to sign the contract on Tuesday and then be presented to the press. He will become Avaí’s second high profile signing of the close season after they agreed terms with former player Marquinhos from Grêmio for his fifth spell at the club.
