Ganso has admitted that he is only thinking of playing well for São Paulo as he reaches full fitness for the first time since September.

Ganso, 23, moved to the Copa Sul-Americana winners in September but was already injured from his time at Santos and, now that he is close to full fitness, he is putting thoughts of a Brazil recall to the back of his mind as he looks to establish himself at his new club.

“You can only get to the Seleção by playing football. That’s what I want to do with São Paulo. I play a lot of ball and dedicate myself to the utmost to my return,” he told Globo Esporte.

There is a lot of competition for a place in new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad ahead of the World Cup in 2014, but Ganso knows that only by playing well for his club will he stand a chance.

“I do not know if I’m below the Oscar’s. When there is a time without playing, every player feels the lack of pace.

“I need to be on the field to show. Everyone knows Scolari and that he likes a cheerful football. I can only get back by playing football.”
