Palmeiras target Juan Román Riquelme has confirmed that he will not return to play for Boca Juniors, despite the request of new coach Carlos Bianchi.

Riquelme, 34, who has not play for Boca since losing the Copa Libertadores final to Corinthians back in July, was asked by new coach Bianchi, under whom the he played perhaps the best football of his career, to reconsider his decision to never play for the Argentine giants again, but the number 10 revealed he could not go back on his decision.

“I’m saying I will not go back to Boca. I did what I had to do,” he told reporters.

“I communicated to the coach and the president, even though at the house I had already told Bianchi. The day I took mate with them, I said I made a decision and that for me is very difficult to change.

“I thought until the last moment by the coach, but I cannot change a decision I made.

“I love this club, I have many memories and Boca will always be my home.”

The former Barcelona star has been linked to a number of clubs in Brazil and admitted that if the right offer is there, then he would consider playing again.

“If you have the opportunity to play, I’ll play. Here, it will be difficult. Now I’m going to my house, drink mate and live the life that I took six months ago, I’m doing great.”
