Grêmio are hoping to offer midfield star Fernando a new contract to fight off interest from a host of European clubs.

Fernando, 20, has been targeted by CSKA Moscow and Porto as a possible transfer target once the January transfer window opens, however the volante is keen to think about his future during the Brazil off season, before committing to a new deal.

“My contract is until 2016,” Fernando told Lancenet!

“But today we know that no player’s contract is unbreakable. Now I want to think a bit on vacation, for the year was hard.

“And then I will decide about any negotiations. But for now, I will be present on January 3 for the pre-season.”

And despite the speculation around his future, the Brazil Under-20 star was happy to take part in the opening of the new Grêmio Arena on Saturday evening against Hamburg.

“We know that the field is not in the best condition. The Arena is not all completed yet, but we’re very pleased to have participated in this festival, which will go down in history.”
