Cruzeiro midfielder Walter Montillo has been linked with numerous clubs over the past few weeks but it is looking increasingly likely that the Argentine will stay at the Belo Horizonte club.

Montillo, 28, who has been at Cruzeiro since moving from Universidad de Chile in 2010, has quickly become a fans favourite and the players agent Sergio Irigoitia believes his client is happy where he is.

He told Lancenet!: “Today, Walter (Montillo) wants to stay at the club that has always treated him very correctly. He is an idol of the fans and is fully acclimatised to Belo Horizonte.”

Irigoitia refused to rule out Montillo leaving Cruzeiro but was keen to state that it would only happen if the interested party meet the clubs valuation.

“For Montillo to leave Cruzeiro, the club interested in signing him must make an interesting proposal to the board.

“Then we can talk, but our intention is to continue in the city. So far, nothing has come to me. I told the leaders that we talk only if they accept an offer.”

And according to the president Gilvan de Pinho Tavares, Montillo, who has a contract until 2015, will only leave if their valuation of €15 million is met.
