Lancenet! are reporting that former Barcelona star Ronaldinho is expected to stay with Atlético Mineiro for two more years, after successful talks between his brother and agent, Roberto Assis, and the Atlético Mineiro board.

Ronaldinho, 32, has been linked in recent weeks to moves to Fluminense and Santos but it appears the player is keen to stay in Belo Horizonte after a successful for season.

Assis said: “Look, I can not confirm the renewal, but there is everything in place to stay, this is the feeling. The relationship is very good and we have all the ingredients to renew.

“I do not know if it will be two years, one year, three, four, or a lifetime. Let us discuss calmly, with tranquillity, he is happy at the club. We have a meeting set for next week.”

Ronaldinho is keen to have stability as he hopes to play his way into the Brazil squad ahead of the 2014 World Cup, however his decision could be swayed depending on whether Atlético Mineiro finish second in the league and qualify directly into the Copa Libertadores, or if they have to pre-qualify.

“The year is not over for him. He focuses on these two matches for Atletico, to confirm the direct way to the Libertadores,” he added.
