Atlético Mineiro head coach Cuca is yet to sign a new deal with the club and, with speculation rising over the future of the former Cruzeiro and Fluminense coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari has now been linked with the job.

Cuca, 49, has done a great job in Belo Horizonte this year in guiding Atlético Mineiro to genuine title contenders until the last few weeks of the season when Fluminense broke away to clinch the league title.

All the pieces are in place for Cuca to sign a new deal, however, without putting pen to paper the number of names linked with the job will increase. However, rumours of Scolari coming into replace him have not affected the coach.

He told Lancenet: “Good luck to Scolari if he comes, he will get everything already in place, the Libertadores. But my friend you must ask President, if he are satisfied with me. I did all he asked of me, he gave me everything I asked of him, but if you want to find someone better, then that is no problem, I follow my path.”
