Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has been the subject of much transfer talk over the past six months and now another club have expressed a desire to sign the player, with Paris St-Germain throwing their hat into the ring.

Paulinho, 24, has been courted by a number of top European clubs and was close to joining Italian giants Inter before extending his contract with Corinthians.

PSG have spent big this last year on the likes of Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Javier Pastore, and show no signs of slowing down as they aim to dominate both in France and in the Champions League.

And now French and Italian newspapers are reporting that Bernardo, the player’s agent, has travelled to Italy and France to talk to clubs.

However, the former midfielder denied this when asked by Lancenet. He said:

“I was there to see other players. After the summer market (mid-year window), we have not met with anyone else over Paulinho. It is normal for these types of rumours. We’ve had Chelsea, Inter, PSG now … After Neymar, he is the most important player in Brazil. This is normal.”
