The agent of Botafogo forward Bruno Mendes has told Lancenet! that a meeting has been arranged for next week to discuss signing the striker on a permanent deal.

Bruno, 18, is currently on-loan at the Rio de Janeiro side until the end of 2013 and club president Mauricio Assumpção is determined not to miss out on the starlet.

Formerly of Guarani, Bruno is owned by a group of foreign investors, of which his agent Gustavo Arribas is part. His rights are officially registered at Uruguayan side Deportivo Maldonado, where he is contracted until 2017.

In theory, given the complicated set-up that also involves Carioca side Macaé, Botafogo are acting as a shop-window to entice a larger, European based side to bid for the talented forward.

Botafogo, though, would like to secure his stay for next season and Arribas told the newspaper: “President Mauricio Assumpção called me and arranged a meeting for next week. Everybody has been pleased with Bruno Mendes’ arrival. He didn’t need to adapt, he just fit perfectly at Botafogo.”
