Botafogo’s Clarence Seedorf has praised fellow teammate Bruno Menedes’ goalscoring performance against Vasco and says he has a bright future ahead of him.

Seedorf, 36, told reporters after Botafogo’s 3-2 win: “This boy has a future, but he needs to keep balance. He has a good head, he knows what he wants in life. I’m sure it’ll work out for him.”

The Dutch midfielder continued to praise the team: “Botafogo made the turn around because it is a team full of character. Goals did not always come but today Bruno scored and we were happy.

“We had to believe until the very end and because of that we won today against a great team in Vasco.”

Bruno Mendes was delighted at the veteran’s praise and told the media congregration: “I am very grateful to hear that from Seedorf. I will never forget that, it is in the heart now.”

Botafogo now lie in seventh place in the Brasileirão ahead of their game against Figueirense next Thursday.
