Grêmio are reportedly interested in signing former São Paulo defender Diego Lugano.
The Paris Saint Germain centre back spent three years at the Morumbi and made over 90 appearances.
During that time Lugano led the Tricolor Paulista to titles in the Campeonato Paulista, the Copa Libertadores, the FIFA Club World Championship, and the Série A title in 2006.
The Uruguayan international moved to the French capital last year, from Turkish outfit Fenerbahçe, but has only played a dozen games.
Juan Figer, Lugano’s agent, told Lancenet: “Gremio are among the clubs that showed interest after the last transfer window closed. But there is some distance between an interest and an offer.
“There are matters beyond financial ones. But we have good relations with the club’s board, so it’s something we can discuss. So far the only offer was from Fluminense, in the last transfer window.”
