São Paulo newspaper Folha de S.Paulo revealed on Friday that Fluminense striker Fred could be in line to earn another chance with the Brazilian national team when they face Colombia in New Jersey on 14th November.

Former Lyon star Fred, 28, has been in superb form for the league leaders this season but was unhappy with Seleção coach Mano Menezes for being overlooked for the September matches against South Africa, China and South Africa, saying that he would only dream of a recall under a new head coach.

However, Menezes is keen to find a striker that can fit into the current Seleção line-up or at least provide a plan B to the more fluid 4-6-0 formation that has been tried in the recent China and Iraq friendlies.

Menezes said: “We played without a target man and had a high level of creativity. I like this, but we cannot always play without a striker. Success can not always be this way.”
