Chelsea defender David Luiz has told reporters of his delight at the return of Kaká to the Brazil squad for the side’s upcoming friendly fixtures.

Kaká, 30, will return to the Seleção for the first time under manager Mano Menezes and the first time since the 2010 World Cup.

Luiz insists that, in his opinion, the former World Player of the Year (2007) should have been called up to the squad earlier:

“We were all delighted with the news,” David Luiz said on arrival in Poland. “He should have been called-up earlier, he was the best player in the world.”

Brazil will travel to Sweden for a fixture with Zico-managed Iraq on Thursday evening, before returning to Wroclaw in Poland to play Japan on Tuesday next week.

Chelsea defender David Luiz is expected to start alongside captain Thiago Silva at the heart of the defence, as Mano Menezes looks to build a team for next summer’s Confederations Cup.
