Atlético Mineiro"s Ronaldinho Gaúcho dedicated his stunning hat trick performance to the memory of his stepfather who recently passed away.

Ronaldinho, 32, took to Twitter and told fans: “Very sad about the loss of my stepfather Vanderlei. Still shaken that I played today [Saturday]. Was not easy, but I wanted to honour him with a great performance.

“The goals from today, I dedicate it to my family and thank you for the messages of affection I received. The gap he leaves is irreparable."

Ronaldinho played in Atlético Mineiro"s 6-0 rout over Figueirense, scoring a hat trick and laying on two assists for his teammates.

The former Seleção scored a stunning first goal then broke down in tears pointing towards the sky as temmates ran to celebrate with him.

He was recently praised for his professionalism by teammate Jo and coach Cuca as he took to the pitch just after learning of his stepfather"s death.
