Following his side’s victory over local rivals Botafogo, former Liverpool goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri is eyeing the Brasileirão title, although he admits it will be difficult.

Cavalieri, 29, has enjoyed a golden season at Fluminense and will be a strong candidate for inclusion in the team of the year at the end of the campaign, but first must help his side claim a challenging league title.

Flu currently lie six points clear of second-placed Atlético with ten games to play, but with so many good teams in the division, the ‘keeper is not getting ahead of himself at this stage.

“There’s still a long way to go,” Cavalieri told TV Globo after the clash. “Classicos are very difficult, you leave it all out there on the pitch. Now, we still have many difficult opponents ahead.

“The important thing is that we remain balanced. There is a good spirit in the group and that’s why we have managed to win difficult ties.”
