New Santos signing Patricio Rodríguez has expressed his delight at the prospect of lining up alongside Neymar and Ganso, stating that it is a dream come true.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Peixe on a four-year contract from Independiente in Argentina last month.
He made the dream start to life in Brazilian football by netting a debut goal in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Atlético Goianiense.
Whilst his new teammates are away in Sweden for a friendly match following their Olympic campaign in London, which ultimately ended with a silver medal, Patito has spoke of his excitement at their return and admitted he jumped at the chance of a move to the same club as the stars.
Rodriguez told Lance!: “Santos Football Club is a team for whom I have great admiration. To play alongside Neymar and Ganso was a dream for me. I did not think twice when I accepted to come here.
“It will be very nice to be able to work beside Neymar and I know I’ll mature even more. I really admire him. He is surely is among the five best players in the world.”
Santos continue their Brasileirão campaign with a trip to Figueirense on Friday night.
