The Brazilian is reportedly among the top earners at El Madrigal, and following the Yellow Submarine’s relegation to the Segunda División, it is believed that the club need to slash their wage bill.
According to Marca, however, Barcelona are willing to offer Villarreal €8 million for Nilmar, which is just under half the amount that the Castellón club signed the 27-year-old for from Internacional in 2009.
Nilmar’s agent, Orlando da Hora, recently revealed that his client has also attracted interest from a number of other clubs across Europe.
“There is a Spanish, one French, three Italian and one English team interested in Nilmar,” he told Marca.
Nilmar has two years remaining on his contract with Villarreal.
