Luis Fabiano returned to Sao Paulo in March, having previously played for them between 2001 and 2004, but has so far yet to feature during his second spell due to injury.

However, coach Batista said after the club’s 2-2 draw with Botafogo last night: “He will play. If he does not have any problems, he plays.”

The 30-year-old former Sevilla striker recently returned to training with the squad, and now looks set to make his debut on the day of Sao Paulo’s 51st anniversary.

With the return of a star player and an anniversary to celebrate, some people are speculating that the Morumbi may see a record Brasileirão attendance on Sunday.

The previous record was also set by Sao Paulo, when 60,514 fans attended the 1000th game of goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni. There are 62,039 tickets available for Sunday’s clash.
