When asked by Radio Bandeirantes whether Dagoberto would be a good addition to the Corinthians squad after their draw with Sao Paulo last night, Sanchez replied: “He has signed for Santos. They are rich.”

Dagoberto’s contract runs until April 18, and with any pre-contract agreement only able to be agreed six months prior to the expiration of a player’s current deal, the agreement cannot become official until October 18 at the earliest.

In response to Sanchez’s claims, Sao Paulo vice president João Paulo de Jesus Lopes stated: “I am unaware of any negotiations in this regard. If this is true, we are not part of the question of whether he has signed a preliminary contract or not.

“That is currently a secondary issue,” he continued. “What matters most is the desire of the player.”

Dagoberto has also recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
