Germany started on top, and almost took the lead in the sixth minute, Mario Gotze found space inside the area, and after cutting back on to his left foot he drew a good save from Julio Cesar.

Brazil came into the game a bit more as the half went on with some promising counter-attacks, but again it was Germany who had the next good chance, with Toni Kroos dragging a shot wide from the edge of the box.

Ten minutes before half-time, Dani Alves’ powerful free-kick from 30 yards was parried away by Neuer, before Kroos went close with a set-piece of his own at the other end.

Christian Trasch for Germany and Neymar for Brazil both also went close before the break, but it remained 0-0 at the interval.

After a relatively slow first half the match lightened up. Schweinsteiger opened the score on a penalty before Gotze double the score for the Germans on a classy goal. Brazil reacted on a penalty converted by Robinho but Schürrle put an end to Brazil hopes by scoring Germany third goal. In the extra time, Neymar, who had been quite throughout the game, finally played his magic and scored a beautiful goal from outside the area.

Germany finally won 3-2 against a disappointing Selecao. The Brazilians might want draw some conclusions from this game as Germany won as a team, a concept Brazil is still trying to build.
