Ramalho was disappointed with Thursday’s 2-0 loss to Vasco da Gama, a loss that sees Santos drop to third from bottom in the Brasileirão table with just eleven points from their opening eleven games.

Peixe will definitely be without the suspended pair of Neymar and Leo, while left-back Alex Sandro, who has recently signed for Porto but could stay with Santos until January, is injured.

“I did not want to change much in the team, but we did not do well against Vasco,” Ramalho said at his pre-match press conference. “The left-back problem is complicated. The Copa Libertadores champions should not have to improvise, but it looks like our only option.”

Santos could have Adriano and Henrique available after both recovered from injuries, with the latter yet to make his debut since joining from Cruzeiro last month. However, Ramalho was unsure if they would feature.

“I do not know if I will select them tomorrow,” he said. “They have only trained a little since their injuries. Let’s see how they do in training on Saturday, and we can decide if they are ready to play.”
