The Brazilian fans chose and Samba Gold 2023 has the best Brazilian player in the world: Tamires. Defender was the most voted by the public and won the trophy for the first time.
The Samba Gold Award, women’s category, has been awarded since 2021 to the best Brazilian woman playing in Brazil or abroad. It’s a way of valuing Brazilianness and the players who take our Brazilian style to the four corners of the planet. The finalists are chosen based on the athlete’s statistics, achievements and impact throughout the year.

2023 Winner
Left-back Tamires is the winner of the 2023 Samba Gold Award. At 36 years old, the Corinthians player overcame heavy competition to win the contest for the first time in her career.
Tamires was at the top of the podium, which also included second place Bia Zaneratto, from Palmeiras, and Debinha, from Kansas City Current. The third-placed player in 2023 had been the winner the previous year.

But this time it was Tamires who took the highest place on the podium. Samba Gold’s voting success was mainly due to Corinthians’ winning season. The São Paulo club won the most recent Copa Libertadores (in the final against Palmeiras) and the Brazilian League (in the final against Ferroviária).
In both victories, Tamires played a prominent role, including scoring a goal in the decisive match of the Brazilian League, in a game with an attendance of over 42 thousand fans. The player also had her special place with the National Team. The left-back was with Brazil in the FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The team had good performance, but ended up being eliminated in the group stage.
After the tournament, Tamires indicated that she is unlikely to compete in the next edition, due to her age. The Corinthians player participated in three FIFA World Cups in her career and, now as a Samba Gold winner, hopes to be with the Brazil team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
