With newly promoted coach in charge, Flamengo’s U-20 B team thrashes Olaria’s professional team

On the morning of last Wednesday (07/02), Flamengo U-20 B team defeated Olaria’s professional team 4-0 in a friendly match held at Ninho do Urubu.

The match marked coach Raphael Bahia’s debut in the category; he was the coach of Flamengo’s U-16 team and moved up to the junior team after his campaign in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Juniores 2024, reaching the semifinals.

The opponent Olaria is preparing for the Copa do Brasil and is using friendly matches to prepare for the first round, where they will face Sao Bernardo-SP on February 21.

The change in command of the U-20 B team occurred after Leonardo Chered left. Raphael Bahia “skipped” a category, the U-17 team, which is now under Filipe Luís, recently retired from his football career.

At the club since March 2023, Bahia won the Flamengo Adidas Cup, Brasil Soccer Cup, and Liam Brady Cup (undefeated). Additionally, he was the runner-up in the Guadalupe Cup and a semifinalist in the Guilherme Embry Tournament. This year, he took over the team in the middle of the Copinha and led them to the semifinals.
