Manchester City are interested in Lucas Paquetá, but it looks like West Ham don’t want to sell the Brazilian midfielder. According to Foot Mercato, the Hammers have rejected a second bid from the Citizens for the 25-year-old.

The London-based side reportedly turned down an initial €80m offer. Pep Guardiola’s team therefore increased its bid to an impressive €101 million, but it still wasn’t lucrative enough to persuade West Ham, whose asking price would be north €110 million.

Will West Ham be able to keep Paquetá?

Lucas Paquetá has been in the English capital for only a year, having joined West Ham from Lyon in the summer of 2022. The Hammers acquired the midfielder for a reported €43 million by then, and according to Transfermarkt, his market value is €45 million.

Therefore, City are offering way more than his reported worth. However, we have to take into account that David Moyes’ side has already lost an important starter by selling Declan Rice to Arsenal this summer. That deal reportedly cost the Gunners more than €120 million. So if City increase their bid, West Ham could make more than €230 million in only two players.

They’d be losing a lot of weight in the middle of the park, though. But sometimes there are offers you just can’t refuse.
