The game was valid for the 13th round of the Brasileirão.

VAR had a lot of work in the match, being decisive to score a penalty for Santos, the red card given to striker Arthur Gomes and also ruling out a goal by the home team in the second half.

Peixe also complained about an unmarked penalty by referee Marielson Alves Silva in the first half,

and Esmeraldino had an athlete sent off in the final moments of the game as well.

Marinho, from a penalty, scored again, but left the field with pain in his right thigh. The alvinegra turn came after the crossing of Pará, which Jefferson deflected against, and the young Marcos Leonardo scored the third. Goiás scored goals from Vinícius and Victor Andrade.

Peixe are now up to a good run of 10 unbeaten games this season, seven for the Brasileirão and three for the Libertadores. It is the best run for the club since last year, when they went nine games without losing under the command of Jorge Sampaoli.

The victory makes Santos gain positions and move up to the top six. Peixe is in sixth place with 20 points, seven less than leader Atlético-MGGoiás, on the other hand, remains on the bottom end of the Brasileirão, with only nine points.

Santos have a classic ahead of them in the next round. Peixe takes on Corinthians on Wednesday at the Neo Química Arena. Goiás receives Fluminense on the same day in a later clash.
