On the one hand, Santos had more control and possession of the ball. But it was the Lion that appeared with more danger in front of goal. In the 21st minute of the first half, Sport had a series of shots with Bruninho and Élton, which were defended by goalkeeper João PauloFive minutes later, Sport scored with Jonatan Gómez, but the move was canceled due to impediment. Santos returned to the pitch more decisive in the second half.

In the sixth minute, they had a good chance with Soteldo, who went close to beating goalkeeper Maílson.  Not long after, Santos produced yet another chance to score. This time, it was Jean Mota, who failed to bury his chance. But their consistency would go on to pay at the end of the day.

15 minutes from time, Marinho hit a great goal to open the scoring. Sport still made attempts later on to grab an equalizer even until the last minute. However, Santos held on to their lead and went home with all three points.

With the result, Santos has seven points and jumps to 5th place on the table. Sport, in turn, with four, drops to 15th.



Sport returns to the field for the fifth round of the Brasileirão on Sunday, when they host São Paulo on Ilha do Retiro. At noon of the same day, Santos visits Palmeiras in a tough clash at Morumbi.
