Luis Suárez will stay at Grêmio until the end of the year, coach Renato Portaluppi confirmed yesterday (26) before the match against Flamengo in the Brazilian Cup. The match ended 2-0 for the Rio de Janeiro team and the second leg will happen in August.

“[Suárez is] Very important player, makes the difference. I"m talking about that Mexican soap opera, but it"s over. It gives peace of mind to both him and the club. He stays until December, he gives us that peace of mind, he has helped us a lot, and I hope that today too, a qualified team (Flamengo), but Grêmio also arrived with merits," assured Renato in an interview in Sportv"s pre-game.

It"s reported that Suárez was also trying to make it happen, which caused some arguments with the Brazilian team"s board. It was also said that the Uruguayan was thinking about retiring due to pain in his knee and the high number of games in Brazil would be one of the reasons.
