Fortaleza had troubles in front of goal, failing to capitalize on their chances.  The home team had a goal revoked by Romarinho in the first half and almost opened the scoring moment later with David, who lost a goal right in front of the scoring area. At the last minute, Wellington Paulista also had a share of chance to put his team ahead, but he referee saw an obstruction in the play and disallowed the goal.

Botafogo didn’t find the net also, but played a great and intriguing game at Castelão.

Paulo Autuori’s team gave Fortaleza little scare in the game and made goalkeeper Felipe Alves to work hard. In the first half, both teams created loads of chances, but failed to capitalize on it and find the back of the net.

Glorioso appealed for a penalty in the 34th minute when Gabriel Dias fell on Bruno Nazário in the area. The Botafogo players clamored for a penalty, but the referees saw nothing in it and ordered for the game to continue.

In the second half, Yuri César was introduced to Rogério Ceni’s team. The young player changed the dynamics of his team play and nearly put his name on the scoreboard making his team go home with the win, but failed to culminate in the goal of Ceará at the end.

The match continued without much great opportunities to score from both team until the final minutes. At the 84th minute, Yuri César gave Romarinho the ball whose shot looked wide but got to the back of the net. However, the referee saw an impediment in the move leading to the goal and canceled the goal.

The game ended goalless at the Arena Castelão.

Fortaleza visits Goiás next Wednesday. On the same day, Botafogo hosts Atlético-MG.
