Trained in the youth categories and a champion of the Copinha with Internacional in 2020, midfielder Lucas Ramos is about to make his debut in Latvian football.

The 23-year-old youngster arrived at FK Auda at the end of January on loan with a contract until January 2025. His contract with Colorado runs until December 2026.

The Brazilian’s new club, FK Auda, is coming off their best seasons in history. In 2022, they won the Latvian Football Cup, which earned them a spot in the 2023/24 Conference League qualifiers, and last season, they finished third in the national league, the club’s best placement ever, which also secured the team a spot in the 2024/25 Conference League playoffs.

“I can say that the club aims for something big this year, whether it’s another cup title, perhaps even the league title, and also a spot in the Conference League group stage,” he said.

Promoted to the professional team in 2019, Lucas Ramos played 29 matches for Internacional and scored one goal. In the preseason with Auda, he played nine friendlies, starting in five of them, and also scored once. Despite only playing friendlies, the midfielder has already noticed the differences between Latvian and Brazilian football.

“There’s a lot of physical contact, a more aerial game with many counterattacks, not many similarities with Brazilian football. I think the big difference compared to Brazil is that here there isn’t much daring; players tend to stick to the basics, and it’s the foreigners who end up making the difference,” he analyzed.

Adaptation and debut

In Latvia for just over a month, the Brazilian says he is adapting well, even with temperatures below zero.

“It’s very cold here, but it hasn’t been a problem, especially because Rio Grande do Sul also had very cold weather. As for the city and the food, I have nothing to complain about; everything is very peaceful. My biggest challenge has been communication, both due to the local language and English, but I’ve managed to get by,” he revealed.

Lucas Ramos’ debut will take place this Friday (8) when FK Auda hosts Rigas FS at 1:00 pm Brasília time in the opening match of Virslīga, Latvia’s top division.
