The Spanish-Brazilian striker Léo dos Reis is the new reinforcement of the Girona-ESP B team. Created in Barcelona’s youth teams, the 20-year-old signed a 2-year contract with the team located in the northeast of the Spanish country, on the banks of the Onyar River. The athlete is the son of Brazilian Marcelo Madona, an idol in futsal in Spain.

The striker played last season for Monza in Italy, where he also made his professional debut. In 34 games in the youth categories, Léo dos Reis scored 16 goals and distributed 11 assists.

After being released by Barcelona, ​​Leo dos Reis stayed in Spain until the 2020/21 season, when he transferred to Birmingham, England. In the United Kingdom, he wore the shirt of Birmingham City in the 2021/22 season, playing for the Under-23 team. At the time, despite being just 19 years old, the striker stood out in the club’s offensive system, scoring five goals and an assist in 10 games.

Leo’s family has a long history in world futsal. His father, Marcelo dos Reis Soares, better known as Marcelo Madona, was a futsal player for the Spanish National Team. Born in Manaus (AM), Marcelo spent about 15 years in Spanish futsal, becoming naturalized and joining the national team. The highlight of his career was when he won the Futsal World Cup in 2004, scoring the winning goal in the final of the tournament against Italy.

Another important name in the history of futsal was Jordi Sánchez Piris, the striker’s uncle, who was also a Barcelona futsal player playing for the Catalan team from 2008 to 2010.
