Dani Alves appeared before the Spanish court for the first of the weekly appearances he must make to certify that he did not flee. It is one of the conditions imposed to approve his release while awaiting the resolution of the various appeals filed regarding his four-and-a-half-year sentence for rape.
The footballer arrived at the Barcelona Court of Appeal at 9:20 local time alongside his lawyer, Inés Guardiola, according to local media reports. He must go through this process every Friday while on provisional release, although this time it was moved up a day due to tomorrow being a holiday for Easter.

The Brazilian arrived by car and paid no attention to the journalists waiting for his entrance and exit from the location. He did not make any statements, nor did he do so when leaving prison.
Alves left the Brians 2 prison last Monday, where he had been held since January 2023, after paying a one-million-euro bail. As a condition for granting him bail, the court demanded that the athlete surrender his Spanish and Brazilian passports to prevent flight and maintain a one-kilometer distance from the victim.
Alves was found guilty of raping a woman in the bathrooms of the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on the night of December 30, 2022. The 40-year-old footballer claimed there was consent and denied being violent. However, the court that tried the case last month rejected his version and explained that “for the existence of sexual assault, it is not necessary for physical injuries to occur, nor for heroic opposition from the victim to engaging in sexual relations.”
