Corinthians have adamantly refused to relaunch talks with West Ham over their rising star, Yuri Alberto. Despite a substantial offer from the Hammers, the Brazilian club maintained their firm stance, preferring to retain their prolific centre-forward.

An inside source has reportedly confirmed that the club see Yuri Alberto as a vital piece in their squad, and that a departure at this stage could potentially disrupt their Brazilian Serie A ambitions.

The details of the offer

The offer in question had everything to seduce. West Ham had made an offer including a five-year contract for the player as well as a considerable salary, boosted by favorable fluctuations in the pound sterling. According to Globo, Yuri Alberto would have been tempted by the financial advantages offered by this proposal.

West Ham had initially made an offer of 18 million euros to seize 60% of the economic rights of Yuri Alberto. Nevertheless, Corinthians would have kept a substantial slice of the pie, half that sum. The planned distribution would have seen the Brazilian club sell 30% while retaining the remaining 20%, while Zenit, also holding 30% of the player’s economic rights, would have agreed to sell their share.

It should also be noted that Yuri Alberto was recruited definitively by Corinthians barely seven months ago. His acquisition had been part of a complex agreement with Zenit, involving the departure of several players as well as options to buy other talents. At the time, this operation was valued at 12.5 million euros.

Radio silence for Alberto

Although contacted by some media, Yuri Alberto preferred to remain silent, refusing any interview with journalists following his team’s qualification for the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
