While his contract will expire next June, Thiago Silva’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain.

Aged 39, the Brazilian veteran will be free to engage wherever he wants from January 1.

Asked at a press conference about the fate reserved for the central defender, Mauricio Pochettino preferred to kick into touch.

For the Argentine coach, there is currently no question of discussing their future with the players. The priority is to focus on sporting performance in order to obtain good results.

Pochettino therefore puts the ball back in the management’s court, emphasizing that it is between the club and the player to decide what is best for the future.

“At the moment, we’re not talking with players. I don’t believe the club is talking. That’s between the player and club to decide what’s best. Now it’s a moment to work together and try to get results,” he said.

Arriving free at Chelsea in 2020 after his departure from PSG, Thiago Silva quickly established himself as a leader in the Blues defense. Despite his 39 years, the Brazilian maintains an excellent level and valuable leadership. This season, he has already participated in 22 matches in all competitions.
