Why is Cafu suing Roma and Qatar Airways

Cafu embarked on a journey to Warsaw, where the stage was set for the filming of a safety advertisement. This particular ad would subsequently grace the television screens of many. As a crucial player in TV story, Cafu entrusted his agent, Vincenzo Aliotta, to engage in protracted negotiations with Roma. Nevertheless, the negotiation process dragged on, marked by a series of impediments and delays.

The turning point in this tale occurs in the year 2020, as the ownership of Roma went through a change — James Pallotta, the then-owner, relinquished control to the Friedkin family. Unfortunately for Cafu, the shift in leadership happened before ompensation agreement could be cemented.

What are Cafu’s demands?

In spite of his deep-seated affection for the club, Cafu made the arduous decision to initiate legal proceedings. His quest: to seek a substantial compensation amounting to £10 million ($12 million). This figure was meticulously calculated, encompassing the 46-month period during which the advertisement featuring Cafu was broadcasted, adversely affecting his routine sponsorship deals.

The final chapter of this legal drama unfolds with the last day for negotiations firmly marked on the calendar: November 17. Should no agreement materialize by that date, Cafu will be left with no recourse but to bring his grievances to the court, as he strives to secure the financial compensation he believes he deserves.
