Botafogo lost 3-1 at home to Atletico GO on Wednesday night. Fogão scored first in the second half through Babi Matheus with Atletico replying minutes later before adding another two to make it 3-1. Gomes D, Ze Roberto and substitute Vitor scored to hand the visitors a comeback victory.

Both teams started the first half very slow and the home side created less so as the visitors.

Both sides had only one goal attempt on target each and didn’t cause trouble for themselves. Dragão were slightly better possession-wise; they had more of the ball compared to their opponent but did not do much with it.

After the break, Botafogo made an early change bringing in Angulo to replace Nascimento De Paula in the 59th minute. It didn’t take long after the substitution before the host drew first blood. Babi Matheus opened up the scoring from a rebound in the 63rd minute following a counter-attacking situation after the ball was stolen from Janderson by Victor Luis in the other end of the pitch.

However, Fogão’s lead didn’t last as the visitors replied minutes later and drew level through Gomes. Ze Roberto then completed the comeback in the 79th minute after the forward put away Dudu‘s cross.

Atletico GO rounded the game off with another goal in the 92nd minute when substitute Vitor tapped in Janderson’s pass after a defensive error from the home team.

Botafogo have now gone five consecutive games without a win, losing all five of them. They sit at the bottom of the table and will return to the field this Sunday against Fluminense.

Atlético, on the other hand, recorded their first win in five games and sit in 12th place. They will take on Fortaleza at home also on Sunday.
