The Brazilian National Team has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup with a 100% record. On Wednesday (28), Brazil wrapped up the group stage with a 5-0 victory over Panama. With new players on the field, coach Arthur Elias assessed the team’s performance in the match.

“One of our objectives today was to provide opportunities for more players. We have played three games, in which only the third goalkeeper has not yet entered the field; These were very important evaluations in this first phase, which involved the use of two systems, both prepared to operate with two or three systems.”

“I am very pleased because we are in a phase of some important definitions. For that, the team still needs to play games, as it has been doing, in a competition that demonstrates greater consistency and evolution. Today, we had the opportunity to play a game where we had more ball possession. I believe our team also found spaces and showed a lot of repertoire to score goals in different ways.”

Now, Brazil awaits the final matches of the Gold Cup group stage to discover their opponent in the quarterfinals. Looking ahead to the next phase, the coach emphasized the importance of mental work in the knockout stage of the competition and reinforced the importance of confidence among Brazilian players.

“We are working precisely to instill more confidence in the Brazilian National Team, which has not had great results in international competitions. There is a mental aspect where I do not see an excess of confidence at the moment; on the contrary, I want them to have more confidence and understand that each game has its own story.”

“The story of the match against Panama is over, and now we will have a game with a different character, knockout. I am very pleased with the response and want more of that: them playing freely on the field, happy, confident, and, obviously, knowing how to face each challenge with a lot of competitiveness,” concluded the coach.

The group traveled to Los Angeles, California (USA), on Wednesday afternoon (28), where they will seek a spot in the semifinals of the competition on March 2 or 3.
