Brazil defenders Marquinhos and Fagner were both critical of the playing surface after the team’s 1- 0 defeat to Peru in Los Angeles.
The Selecao fell to a late goal and suffered a 1-0 defeat, Corinthians right-back Fagner said the hard surface made things difficult.
“Without doubt the pitch made it difficult, it was very hard and the ball didn’t move easily. It was difficult principally for the midfielders, they always needed an extra touch.
“They always needed two, three touches to control the ball. That’s difficult against a team that is well organised, but we created chances to score.”
Marquinhos was of a like mind, telling Globo, “The pitch didn’t help, it meant that the ball got stuck quite a lot. It forced us to pass the ball in field a lot.
“We knew we would have to fight for every ball against Peru, but we couldn’t break them down. They had a game plan and carried it out.”
