Roberto Firmino has been discharged from hospital with no lasting damage to his eye expected, after the Brazilian caught and accidental yet firm thumb in the eye during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Spurs on Saturday.

Firmino was taken to hospital after catching a thumb in his eye ball. But in a statement on their website, Liverpool confirm that he has now been released from hospital and is in contention for Tuesday’s Champions League tie against PSG.

“Roberto Firmino was discharged from a London hospital this afternoon after receiving good news on the eye injury he sustained during Liverpool's 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur,” the statement on Liverpool’s website read.

“A hospital examination confirmed an abrasion of the eye, but there will be no lasting damage. The issue will be monitored and treated by Liverpool’s medical staff at Melwood before any decision is made on whether Firmino will be able to figure in Tuesday evening’s Champions League encounter with Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield.”
