Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hailed full-back Marcelo as a “difference maker” in his team, following Madrid’s 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena last night.

Real take a 2-1 lead to the Bernabeu next week in the Champions League semi-final and Zidane reserved specific praise for Marcelo.

The Seleção full-back scored Madrid’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time with a strike from outside the area.

“Besides the goals he scores, he's a key player in terms of the game plan we look to impose,” said the Madrid coach. “He's a difference-maker in attack.”

“We will have to fight in the second leg, but we are happy. We know we have to suffer in the return leg, nothing is sorted yet.

“After what happened with Juve, we now we have to change things. If not, then trouble will find us.”

Marcelo’s last 3 Madrid goals have all come in the knockout rounds of the Champions League, against PSG, Juventus and now Bayern.
