Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho says that his side are going to have to be at their best to eliminate Liverpool from the Champions League after the two sides drew one another in this year’s quarter-final.
The pairing guarantees at least one English side in the Champions League semi-final this season. Liverpool are the only team to beat City in the Premier League in 2017-18 in a 4-3 thriller at Anfield back in January.
The Brazilian says City will have to take that as a fair warning when the sides face off in European competition in April, "Everybody knows this will be a tough game and we will have to prepare very well for this game.
"It’s the first time we have to play an English side in the Champions League and we know we will have to have two very good performances to go through. We know that it will be a different game because it’s in the Champions League, even though we have history [with Liverpool].
"We have 180 minutes and this won’t be decided in the first game. We have to go to Anfield and try to play our football too, which isn’t easy."
