Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus joined Neymar, coach Tite and captain Casemiro in paying tribute to Bolivia goalkeeper Carlos Lampe, after the Seleção were held to a 0-0 draw in La Paz on Thursday.

Lampe made a string of impressive stops to keep the away side at bay, thwarting Jesus amongst others. The City forward was quick to acknowledge the Bolivia stopper’s performance.

“I missec three chances that I do not usually miss. I’m still training, improving, but I cannot miss these, I know. I congratulated the goalkeeper on his saves.

“We knew that it would not be easy, we had clear chances, but we could not convert them into goals. We leave here with our heads held high, because we fought, ran and managed to hold their team.”

On the conditions in La Paz, Jesus added, “I felt a little tired, it’s normal. It’s the first time I have played at altitude like that. It’s normal. We got to play with pace. Unfortunately, the ball did not go in today. Now we rest so that in the next games we can play another beautiful game and score goals.

“The physics plays a bit part. The run of the ball in relation to the field, which was not great. But we cannot complain, we have to go on the pitch and play and face the difficulties.”
