Vitória striker Marinho has ten goals in the Brasileirão this season; the club owns 50% of his economic rights.
One of the best players of the Brasileirão this year, Marinho has already been contacted by Flamengo and Botafogo. Businessman of the attacker, Jorge Machado was in Rio de Janeiro last week and talked with the two clubs. But both Vitória and Jorge Machado believe that the biggest chance is for him to transfer abroad. According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, a club from Mexico and another from Asia got closer to the €5 million fee that Vitória wants for their 50% share in Marinho. Cruzeiro also has a stake in the business, since they own 30%, while agent Jorge Machado holds the remaining 20% of rights. Recently, a team from Japan offered €2.7 million for the part of Vitória, but it was rejected right away. Botafogo thinks the request of the Bahians is out of reality and practically gave up on a deal. Flamengo tries to reduce the value by suggesting players for exchange. There will still be a need to get along with Cruzeiro, who wants to sell the striker out of the country.
26-year-old Marinho has ten goals and six assists in 25 matches in the Brasileirão – he has found the net in the last four games, against Fluminense, Atlético-PR [twice], Santos and Figueirense. This is by far the best season of Marinho as a professional player, thanks to 19 goals and nine assists in 41 games. In 2015, for Ceará and Cruzeiro, he was on the field 40 times and scored ten goals.
