Zeca, a right-footed left-back, was a starter for the Brazilian national team during the Olympic Games, and will be valued for his performances.
In recent days, Santos have started the negotiations to reshape the contract of Zeca. The board believes that the left-back deserves a salary increase, and are ready to double his monthly wages. Zeca currently earns €22,000 per-month, but Santos are willing to double the figure and offer him around €44,000. Zeca was part of Brazil’s Gold medal winning campaign in the Olympic Games, where he started six matches. The 22-year-old had received enquiries from French champions Paris Saint-Germain and La Liga side Atlético Madrid in the summer transfer window, but he opted to stay at least until the end of the year. Zeca had already renewed his contract in September last year, shortly after cementing his place in the starting XI of coach Dorival Júnior. The contract runs until the end of 2018 and Santos has 70% of the player’s economic rights. Just like Thiago Maia, the left-back also plans to stay longer at Santos if the team qualify for the Copa Libertadores next year.
