Brazilian defender Manoel came to accept the wage proposal made by Beşiktaş, but Cruzeiro did not agree to release the player.
According to the information from UOL Esporte, Manoel asked around five times his current wages to move to Beşiktaş, and the Turks endorsed the request without even discussing the values. Manoel currently earns €55,000 per-month, but Beşiktaş offered to pay him approximately €275,000 and sent the documentation to speed up the transfer process. The documents were transferred to Cruzeiro’s board, but they chose not to release the player. If the deal went through, Manoel would have a five-year contract, until August 2021. According to people linked to Manoel’s entourage, Beşiktaş’ offer was so high that “he wouldn’t have to work for 20 years.”
The intention of Beşiktaş was to shell out €7 million for 100% of the economic rights of Manoel. The amount would be divided equally between Cruzeiro and Atlético Paranaense. Each club would therefore receive €3.5 million each. What prevented the transfer was the refusal of Cruzeiro president Gilvan. However, there’s a clause that allows the sale of the player if a club offers around €2.75 million for the part belonging to Atlético Paranaense. As Cruzeiro rejected the proposal, they have to acquire the other half of the rights, according to the agreement. They must pay the same amount they paid in 2014, that is, €2.5 million.
