Chelsea midfielder Oscar has put his pre-season form down to Antonio Conte’s adoption of a 4-3-3 system during the latter part of the pre-season programme. The Brazilian scored twice against AC Milan and once against Werder Bremen in Chelsea’s final preparatory games for the season.

The ex Internacional man, who just last week was linked with a move to Inter Milan amidst rumours of a falling out with Conte, has insisted that he is raring to go for the new season, with the Blues looking to improve on last season’s 10th place finish.

“I think we’re playing better with a 4-3-3 than 4-2-4 when we were in, but we have two teams and we will always try to give our best,” he told Chelsea’s official website. “The 4-3-3 is better for me because I can score more goals and also create more and get the ball in midfield, because I like to help the team.”

Oscar spoke in glowing terms about his partnership with his compatriot Diego Costa, “We like to play together,” said Oscar. “Every time when we have the ball, we come to try some table and create something. This is good for the team and for us.

“The 4-2 was not reflective, I guess. We played much better than Werder Bremen and we deserved to score more goals. We missed several chances, but it was good because the team created a lot. Everyone played very well. “
