Santos are close to selling young striker Gabigol to Italian champions Juventus for a transfer fee of €20 million.
Club president Modesto Roma has confirmed that he has forwarded the proposal to Gabigol"s parents and agent. The proposal of €20 million was accepted at a meeting between Modesto Roma and members of the Management Committee. Agent Wagner Ribeiro had informed Santos about Juventus" offer before the derby game against Palmeiras, but the official document was sent only on Monday. As per contractual terms, Santos, who owns 40% of the player"s economic rights, will receive €18 million from the deal. According to Globo Esporte, Gabigol, who has another 40% of rights, will get the remaining €2 million. Santos are in a legal battle with Doyen [owns 20% rights], and will deposit €3.6 million in court for the investment group.
Modesto Roma said: “We have sent a letter to Wagner Ribeiro, Valdemír and Lindalva [Gabigol"s parents] about the terms [of the proposal]. Santos are now awaiting their position. If they find it interesting, then we"ll take the next steps, including consulting Barcelona [have first-option]."
