19-year-old striker Lucas Ribamar, who has had a rapid rise from the youth team to professionals this year, is reportedly close to leaving Botafogo.
According to the information from Globo Esporte, Botafogo have received an offer of €2.5 million for Lucas Ribamar, but the country of destination has not been revealed yet. Ribamar’s agent Frederico Moraes had a meeting on the afternoon of Wednesday to present the offer, but the club’s board asked for time to analyse it. A new meeting is scheduled for Friday, and a deal should be reached. The club holds 100% of the striker’s economic rights, and are entitled to the full amount of any sale. So, a deal is expected to go through. Frederico Moraes was approached, but he declined to comment on the negotiations.
Elected as the revelation of the Campeonato Carioca, Ribamar has been attracting interest from French sides since the end of the competition and was recently scouted by Nantes. Representatives of the European club were watching some games of the striker in the stadium. Before that, Lyon and current French champions Paris Saint-Germain had already made enquiries to Botafogo coach Ricardo Gomes to ask about the youngster’s profile and to know whether he fits the style of European football.
