Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that Neymar Junior will sign a new 5 year contract with Barcelona in the coming days. The Brazilian has stalled on signing a new deal with his current contract set to expire in 2018, amidst reported interest from Paris Saint Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The Brazil captain also put contract talks on hold earlier this year as he and his father faced court proceedings for alleged tax irregularities. But it looks as though a resolution is in sight, with Bartomeu suggesting today that an announcement would be due in a matter of days.

Neymar does not want to leave the club or want to go,” Bartomeu explained. “So I do not know whether it will be today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but we will confirm the renewal of Neymar’s contract for the next five seasons. He never said ‘I want to leave the club.”

The deal would commit him to the Nou Camp until 2021, having arrived in Catalonia in the summer of 2013. He has won 2 La Liga titles and a Champions League winners’ medal during his time in Spain. The contract will see Neymar rewarded for his form with a handsome pay rise, partially funded by the club’s lucrative new kit deal with Nike.
