Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato will not be staying at Chelsea beyond the summer, but his representatives are trying to keep the player in English football.
Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade had reported that agent Kia Joorabchian, who’s influential in the Premier League, was trying to take the striker to Tottenham or West Ham United once his loan spell at Chelsea ends. However, according to the information from British journal Telegraph, West Ham have no interest in taking Pato, as they seek a 20-goal-a-season forward for the upcoming season. The report adds that the club’s targets include Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette, Christian Benteke and Wilfried Bony. Pato, whose contract with Corinthians runs out at the end of this year, can sign a pre-contract with any team from July and then leave for free in January 2017. Chelsea have an option to sign Pato permanently this summer for €12 million, but it’s unlikely to be activated. Corinthians, who bought him from Milan for a club-record transfer fee, owns 60% rights of the player, while the remaining 40% is held by Pato himself.
